Two factor authentication (2FA) provides and extra layer of security to your Dekko account. To use 2FA, you must have Dekko set up on a mobile device. 2FA can be set up to be required on every log in, or remembered for 60 days.
Before starting, you will need the Dekko mobile app installed and set up on your mobile device.
Open the Dekko mobile app and log in.
Press the settings button in the top right corner of the screen, then press ‘Enable 2FA’.
Enter your Dekko account password. 2FA is now enabled on your account.
After completing the 2FA setup, the next time you log in to Dekko in your web browser you will be asked to confirm a 2FA code on your mobile device. If you already have the Dekko mobile app open and you are logged in, the confirmation screen will be shown below. To finish logging in, press ‘Accept’. If the Dekko mobile app is not open or your phone is locked, you will receive a 2FA notification - open the notification and log in, then press ‘Accept’ to finish the authentication process. After you have been authenticated a success message will be shown on your phone.
To have 2FA only be required every 60 days, toggle the ‘Remember token’ switch to ON before accepting the 2FA confirmation.
2FA is available when using the Dekko Mail Gateway. After setting up the mail gateway and completing the steps to enable 2FA on your account, you will be prompted by Outlook to re-enter your Dekko account password. When you do this a 2FA prompt will be sent to your mobile. Note that by default ‘Remember token’ is toggled on; this is because Outlook behaves differently to Dekko web, and in the background does many logins; if 2FA is enabled with ‘Remember token’ off, Outlook will be unable to login and will prompt you for your password every time it makes an attempt. Given this, for Outlook users it is recommended that ‘Remember token’ is enabled. Also note that this is a separate token to the one used for Dekko web - if your web 2FA token is set to not remember, it will remain so.
2FA tokens can be set to prompt at every logon attempt or every 60 days. If your token is set to not remember and you want to change it to 60 days, you can simply toggle the token the next time you receive a 2FA prompt on your phone.
If you have your 2FA token set to 60 days and wish to turn this off, you will need to disable and then re-enable 2FA, and at the next 2FA prompt on your mobile, set you token preference.
To disable 2FA on your account, open the Dekko app and log in. Press the settings button in the top right corner of the screen, then press ‘Disable 2FA’. Enter your Dekko account password.
If you get a new phone you will need to authenticate it using your old one.
After pressing ‘login’, you will be presented with a 2FA verification prompt. On your old phone, press ‘Accept’ and your new device will be authenticated.
Press ‘Ok’ on the 2FA prompt and then press login again. Your new device is now set up for 2FA.
Unless you log out of or ultimately uninstall the Dekko mobile app on your old device, it will continue to receive 2FA prompts. It is recommended that you at the least remove you Dekko account from your old device in the interest of security.
If you misplace the mobile device that you use to authenticate your Dekko account you will need to contact Dekko support (email@example.com) to disable 2FA on your account. If you are part of an organisation that has an elected account administrator with this ability, contact them directly.
